Limits: blurry, tiny or cut-off codes may not be read, and HEIC photos don't open in every browser (a screenshot or a JPG usually works).
Why does a QR code stop working?
Two different things can go wrong. The first is the code itself: a dynamic code points to a provider's redirect, and providers can deactivate it when a trial or a plan ends or a scan limit is reached. The second is the destination: even a static code only opens something while the page it points to still exists.
What can you do?
Read the code with this tool to see what is inside. If the content is a short link on a generator's website, the real destination isn't stored in the code: look for the original link in your own records, then make a static copy here. A deactivated dynamic code can't be converted into a static one, so printed codes have to be replaced (for example, with a sticker showing the new code over the old one).
What this tool can't do
- It doesn't reactivate deactivated dynamic codes.
- It doesn't recover the original destination behind a short link.
- It can't read blurry, tiny or cut-off codes.
- It never opens or visits the link it reads: it shows it so you can decide.
Static QR codes — no account, no trial, no expiry. The link is stored inside the code itself, so it keeps working as long as the page it points to exists.
Frequently asked questions
Why did my QR code stop working?
Either the code was dynamic and its provider deactivated it (a trial or plan ended, or a scan limit was reached), or the page it points to no longer exists. Read it here: a short link on a generator's website is a hint that it was dynamic.
Can I reactivate a deactivated QR code?
A deactivated dynamic code can't be converted into a static one, and this tool doesn't reactivate anything. Only the provider that created it can tell you whether it can be restored. For printed material the usual fix is a new static code, for example a sticker over the old one.
Can this tool recover the original destination?
No. A dynamic code only stores the provider's short link, not the final destination. You need the original link from your own records; then you can make a static copy here.
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. The image is read in your browser and never sent to a server. We also never open the link inside the code.
